If you're searching for a delightful retreat in the heart of Tokyo, look no further than NOSTALGIA CAFE in Nakano City. This charming cafe is not just a place to grab a bite; it's a cozy haven where the flavors of comfort food mingle effortlessly with a warm, inviting atmosphere.

NOSTALGIA CAFE brings an exciting mix of classic American dishes with a unique twist. One slice of their cuisine philosophy can be found in the legendary Elvis sandwich, which has left a lasting impression on visitors like Mike Clark, who ardently applauds its “amazing” combination of banana, bacon, and peanut butter, all cradled between fluffy French toast. Dive into a melody of flavors that seem to transport you directly to the heart of American comfort food.

If you prefer something a bit heartier, you can indulge in their corned beef sandwich, a meaty delight that fans rave about. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, the freshness of their seasonal items promises something new to savor every time.

The cafe's decor adds a nostalgic New York vibe, making you feel right at home. With both comfortable table and counter seating, it's the perfect spot to unwind, whether you're catching up with friends or simply enjoying a moment to yourself. This sentiment is echoed by Jay TMG, who describes the cafe as the highlight of their Tokyo trip, praising not only the food but the genuinely welcoming service provided by the owners and staff.

For those seeking a quieter atmosphere, it’s worth noting that as of May 29th, 2025, NOSTALGIA CAFE has adopted a policy limiting entry to preschool-age children, ensuring that guests can enjoy their meals in a more tranquil setting, a point highlighted by Nichole Stinemetz.

To wash down your meal, don't miss their Nostalgia red wine, which has impressed patrons like Cédric Devarenne, returning delightful compliments for its balance and flavor. It's the perfect accompaniment to any delicious choice from their menu.

The allure of NOSTALGIA CAFE is undeniable. You’ll walk in with an appetite and leave with a craving for more, eager to come back and experience what new flavors they have to share. Next time you're in Tokyo, let NOSTALGIA CAFE enchant your taste buds and warm your heart. It's a culinary gem that brilliantly captures the essence of comfort food while creating a space where community and nostalgia meet.

Don’t forget, they’re closed on Mondays, so plan your visit accordingly for a delightful dining adventure!

Ive been trying to go back to his place for months. Every time I go there its closed. (On Mondays) but I finally was able to eat the Elvis sandwich. This should’ve never been as good as it was. Banana, bacon, peanut butter On French toast. Amazing!!!

This was by far the restaurant highlight of our trip to Tokyo. Granted, it was a bit of flavor from home (We live in NY). But that's not what did it for us. First off, the people who own and work the restaurant are wonderful - welcoming, friendly, genuine. The decor and design give it a NY feel, but they made it their own. There are both tables and counter seating available. Very comfortable. The recipes, cooking/baking, and the service are first-rate. The menu is nicely varied. Meatball and pasta dishes, meatball subs, rueben, pulled pork, salads, a similar fare. The grilled cheese is like nothing on Earth, featuring well caramelized onions mixed in. The cheese tastes like pure NY cheddar! The pulled pork is tender, cooked perfectly, and served on a very nice roll. My favorite beverage - lemon soda made to order in the restaurant. Baked goods. OMG. This woman makes science out of baking. I had a slice of pumpkin pie (made from scratch, not canned) that was the best I ever had. If you're in the Koenji, Asagaya, North Nokano areas it is well worth a trip. You'll feel welcome, and you'll enjoy some American favorites with a new dimension - the special care and effort that are so wonderfully Japanese

It’s now 2025, and I have returned many times since then enjoying the pulled pork sandwich and various seasonal items. I really recommend this place. For people who dislike the presence of small children (preschool age), the store does not allow preschoolers to enter anymore as of May 29th. This is perhaps an advantage to some people who wish to preserve a quieter atmosphere. It is something I unfortunately did not know today when I went and was refused according to policy. So I will be unable to return until my child is about 6 years of age. You can get take out but unfortunately the delicious pies to my understanding are not take out optional. Once again I still recommend this place. But unfortunately those of us with preschool age kids are unable to attend. I’ve been here twice. The cookies are great. They’re very nostalgic to me since it reminds me of the states. I had pumpkin pie here in 2022 as well that was excellent. It’s really hard to find pies in general and they’re usually priced around ¥1500 but this place is under ¥1000. I really enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. The pork is really moist and the coleslaw included in the sandwich provides a nice contrast. They also serve good soups including a chili and clam chowder. I got a latte once in a cappuccino the other time both are fine. You should really come for the food. The espresso is quite light in nature. I like that they ask if you want sugar cause I always take mine without sugar. The woman who served me was really nice. This café is always really busy on Saturdays and Sundays. So you have to arrive early to get a seat. It’s a very popular with couples in general. In general it’s a very relaxing atmosphere and the noise level is very low. Because the restaurant is small, they now have a sign that indicates parties of more than 4 cannot enter. That’s a pretty common in Japan anyway due to the size of stores. I went back on Friday and it was really easy to get seated at any time of the day. I really recommend this place.

there’s nice visual cafe shop. every time I go to this cafe new found. every menu was taste so good. my favourite is “ corned beef sandwich ”. it so meaty! and that is worth the priceand. there’s “black cafe “ is nice for me and it offered to big and thick cups. I feel to maker’s nice conscious from some sweet. those are nice too.

Good atmosphere, excellent service, the meatball sub with black bean chili sauce was great. I also had the carrot cake which was decent, but nothing to write home about. It did, however, get me interested in trying lots of other baked goods here though. I liked the cafe latte, but I don't really know much about what makes good vs bad coffee. Anyway, if you're looking for a place with good food, coffee, and want to study this place is great.
